From the very moment "Feelin Fine" kicks-off, it's clear what Hoops are about. Beautifully glimmering guitar tones weave their way through the dreamy, woozy, shoegazing outing bringing to mind the likes of Real Estate, Wild Nothing and reigning champ of this world Mac DeMarco. Limited vocal work gives space to this hazy hue that manages to transport to long, lazy summer days, whilst building nicely into its busy, more drum-heavy climax. We don't know a huge amount about the Bloomington four-piece - which was started as the ambient lo-fi solo project of Drew Auscherman, before he joined bassist Kevin Krauter, drummer James Allen, and guitarist Keagan Beresford to form Hoops - but we're feeling more than fine about what's to come. -G.O'B
